Every spring, striped bass and bluefish begin a 1500 mile journey, migrating North from their winter haunts on the hunt for food as the primal instinct to reproduce grows.
One area in particular that draws these predator fish, as well as eager fly fishermen, is the biologically diverse ecosystem known as New York Bight, Lower New York Harbor, Jamaica Bay, and other tidal river systems such as the Hudson River. The East River also serves as a major thruway for these fish species (as well as their food sources) as it connects Lower NY Harbor to western Long Island Sound.
